Repeat-infringer policy

We terminate accounts that repeatedly infringe. This page says exactly what "repeatedly" means, because a policy nobody can count isn't a policy.

The count

• One strike per valid, uncontested copyright notice against your account.
• Three live strikes ends the account — the account and its payout, not just the item.
• Strikes expire after 12 months from the day they're issued.
• A successful counter-notice voids the strike that went with it. If we put your material back, the strike goes too.
• You can see your own live strike count in your account at any time. We won't terminate an account whose owner couldn't see it coming.

What termination means

A terminated account loses access to hosted features and to any payout rail attached to it. We don't reinstate a terminated account under a new email address; doing that is how platforms lose their safe harbor, and we'd rather keep ours.

Your routines are yours. They live on your device and stay editable, and you can export any project as a file at any time from the Projects panel.

Appeals

Every strike, removal and termination is explained to you in writing with the reason and the evidence we relied on, and every one of them can be appealed by replying to that message or writing to appeals@dancelabs.org. We aim to answer appeals within five business days.

Every decision — ours and yours — is written to an append-only log with a timestamp and the person who made it. That record is as much for your protection as ours.

Other conduct

Separately from copyright: uploading footage of someone under 18 for public or commercial use without a guardian's written permission, or uploading footage of anyone who has asked us to remove it, will also cost you your account. Those aren't graded on a three-strike scale.
